Romanian photographer Mihaela Noroc has traveled across all continents of the word in the last few years to capture what beauty means in different countries. With over 2,000 women photographed in 53 countries, she recently published her first book, Atlas of Beauty: Women of the World in 500 Portraits. We chose some of our favorites for you to enjoy.
1. Kathmandu, Nepal
The Atlas of Beauty first started in Mihaela Noroc’s home country as a small project that was funded through the photographer’s personal savings. She fell in love with photography at the age 16 and used her sister and mother as her first models.
2. Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan
After her teenage years, she wanted to pursue photography as a career but was discouraged by the teachers at her university. She took a break, but fell in love with photography again after a trip she took in 2013 around Ethiopia.
